I have a client in the coaching space who makes over $200k per month with a lean business.
No massive team. No bloat. No extensive business plans. Just him, supported by a few contractors.
And he makes more than most corporate executives earn - people with two decades more experience, MBAs and offices full of staff.
He didn’t get there by being smarter or more charismatic.
He got there by being focused.
While others tried to pile on more and more - he intentionally did less.
His business is built on three pillars.
1 specific target market.
1 specific challenge that those people face.
1 clear offer that solves that challenge.
That’s it. No ever-expanding list of services. No pivoting into new niches every few months. No posting on every platform.
He didn’t try to appeal to everyone. Instead, he honed in on a very particular group of people and ignored everyone else.
By filtering out 99% of people, he was able to speak with precision and depth to the 1% he could really help.
He became a specialist in a small space.
And in business, specialists are powerful. They command more trust and higher fees.
If my client had tried to act big - catering to everyone, building out more products and services, trying to be on every platform. He would have likely done lots of things in an average way, instead of one thing in a masterful way.
Instead, he stripped everything back. He embraced simplicity.
Simplicity in who he serves. Simplicity in how he helps. Simplicity in what he offers.
He went a mile deep instead of a mile wide.
I see this pattern across the most profitable coaches we work with. They reject the idea that more is better and they focus on doing less, better.
Because of this, they become the go-to person in their niche and they grow faster, more profitably and more predictably.
They behave like a craftsman instead of a get-rich-quick schemer. And their market respects them for it.
You’ll be surprised at what you can do when you dominate one market.
So if you’re feeling stuck in your business right now…
What if the problem isn’t that you’re doing too little, what if the real problem is you’re doing too much?
