I’ve been speaking to a lot of folks in the coaching, consulting and service based business space recently who are frustrated with LinkedIn.
They used to get thousands of views on their posts and lots of engagement. But now it has dwindled down to just a few hundred views and next to no engagement or inbound interest.
The question that gets asked: Is LinkedIn dead?
Well, it depends.
If you are using the platform to churn out AI slop to fish for likes and go viral - yes, it’s dead.
The problem is that LinkedIn doesn’t reward virality anymore.
Because ChatGPT can churn out a copy of a different ‘viral post’ for you every day of the week.
When everyone is doing it, it no longer works.
I’ve spoken to a few people recently who built their entire business on sheer volume of views.
They’re in big trouble these. Because their reach has gone from 100k+ per post to 10% of that.
If you’re in the business of selling $147 courses to as many people as possible - that’s a major problem.
But, if your goal is to get premium clients and make money from LinkedIn then I have good news for you.
It’s alive, well and thriving.
The game has changed though.
It’s not about getting as many likes and comments as possible anymore.
The goal is to make a big impact on a small number of people.
Specifically, people who fit your target market are interested in your services and are willing to pay for them.
Even better news, if you actually have some credibility and value to provide - this is simple.
You can accomplish it in 3 steps:
1) Post genuine anecdotes from what you’re seeing in your work (not AI slop that Chatty G whipped up for you in 20 seconds).
2) Reach out, every single day to people who fit your ideal client profile, letting them know you exist.
3) Take those interactions from LinkedIn into one to one conversations so you can build real relationships and help those people.
The game on LinkedIn is no longer to be famous, it’s to grow a real business.
And that’s good news for those who want to build something meaningful.
