I saw this post in a newsletter recently, and it hit me square between the eyes.

If you’ve been in business long enough, you’ll relate.

Building a business, whether that’s a one-person business or a company with headcount, is not easy. And that’s ok, because it’s not supposed to be.

There’s a reason why successful entrepreneurs are the wealthiest people in the world.

It’s not necessarily because they work harder.

But they do take on more pressure.

Every business owner has an origin story. Usually it’s a story of taking on risk, pressure, and hardship early on. If they stay in the game long enough, you might see them 5 or 10 years in and think they got lucky. Perhaps they seem to work fewer hours, get paid more, enjoy freedom and flexibility over their schedule.

That’s a reward.

A reward for taking on increased pressure. Increased risk. Yet handling it in their stride. To keep calm and carry on.

The reality is that when you build a business, a sense of pressure at times is a feature, not a bug.

If it was smooth sailing all the time, then anyone could do it.

But they don’t. Most people are slaves to a wage. Bound to their 9-5. They never go all in on their business. They never embrace the pressure. So they never get the rewards.

But what if we reframed the pressure? What if we could take that pressure and turn it into something else? Something that doesn’t feel as daunting. What if we could transmute the pressure into focus?

I’m working on something big at the moment, and I’m super excited about it. It’s the biggest addition we’ve introduced to our service offering yet.

I think it may become the most effective solution I’ve found for generating quality leads and building revenue for our clients.

It seems like an overwhelming task when I look at it as a whole.

So instead, I’ve chosen focus over pressure. I’ve taken one step at a time, diligently. And it’s starting to come together.

I’m testing the process as we speak, and early results are very interesting.

I can’t give away too much. But I can share that it involves leveraging email to get in front of hard-to-reach prospects (the kind that can’t always be accessed via social media).

P.S. I won't be launching this publicly for a little while. But if you'd like the details when we're ready to onboard the first clients, reply "focus" and I'll make sure you're on the list.
